**A Bigger Issue**
This administration is threatening to build a wall that will run through our Big Bend border.
It’s all over social media, and there is much public outrage.
Statistically we have very little illegal crossings here. The border in Big Bend is an impractical point of entry, because there is still a hundred miles of desert in front of you.
In my 38 years of living here, I can tell you we have an enormous buildup of every law enforcement agency available. There are border checkpoints all over the area, and even in the park. At the Marathon checkpoint, there use to be one person in a trailer. Now, there's a permanent structure, and at least three border patrol agents and sniffer dogs. It's a big waste of money.
All these law enforcement agencies do not have much to do. State Troopers have pulled me over more than once for going a mile or two over the speed limit. It's ridiculous how oppressive it is. In this beautiful part of the country where you can feel so free, and one with nature, is swarming, like hungry bees, with law enforcement.
Animals do not know borders. Cutting off their ability to roam across the Rio Grande will be devastating for wildlife.
If you never experienced the days of Boquillas and Jose’ Falcon’, you don’t know what you've missed.
A border wall will cut off the Rio Grande from the United States. That doesn't make a bit of sense. Both countries rely on it. It's the blood flow of Big Bend.
If you fear Mexican people as a race, as this administration wants you to, it’s because you do not know them or their culture. Donald Trump is flat out lying about them all being criminal.
I’ve lived in an equally mixed community of Mexican and Anglos all these years. The Mexican people are religious, hard working, and very family oriented. If you go to the local cemetery that was segregated many years ago, and observe; the Anglo side is rarely tended to. You’re dead, you’re gone. The Mexican side, is celebrated with solar lights, and pin wheels, flowers, and maintenance. A visual love for their dead.
It is time we unite, not as Democrats and Republicans, but as Americans.
Stop letting this administration divide us. It is what's keeping us from moving forward and keeping Donald Trump sucking up all the oxygen in the room.
It is way past time to stop thinking of each party as the enemy to the other.
It is time to stop demonizing a whole race of people.
It is time to return to a true democracy. The "United" States.
The only voice you have is your vote. Please use it.

Thank you, all my friends who have supported my free life in Big Bend. I know how fortunate I am to have lived here all these years, and create a body of work of a Big Bend that no longer exists, and at the moment is extremely threatened. Thank you for letting me rant and speak honestly to you.
